Interested in Renting Your Property?

If considering renting out you property on a short-term basis (holiday rental), you will need to obtain an Alojamento Local license (AL). At the end of 2023, there were legislative changes to local AL laws, limiting lettings in residential buildings (mainly apartments & semi-detached houses). This doesn´t apply to villa rental that aren´t in horizontal Property.

AL License Applications

When applying for an AL license, it is mandatory to register the start of the business activity with the Portuguese tax authorities (contact us for more information or if you need help with the applicaiton).
Once a license is in place, you need to prove the rental activity of the property each year and comlete registration on the RNAL platform or the town council. A rental income declaration proves income if you started the activity that year or from the start of the business is sufficient for the local authorities.
